We believe that our projects' futures should continue as sustainable sites even without any formal sustainability rating. This drives us to design and embed sustainable principles into our projects regardless of these being formally certified. Nevertheless for those seeking certification, we have a track record interfacing with sustainability practitioners for projects formally certified by LEED. We advise LEED practitioners how to maximize scores through a number of site and landscape design strategies.
Our self-motivated initiatives, among others, cover the mutually reinforcing strategies in recyclability and resuse, resource conservation, carbon capture, reduction in carbon footprints, local and regional materials, biodiversity and onsite water capture. Where no practical sourcing contraints are, we advise and recommend on thoughtful planting designs using a palette of water-wise indigenous or well-adapted species.
Apart from formal green ratings certifications, there are other pathways to sustainability the projects we work on can benefit from.
Green ratings towards formal certification, which our planning and design service supports, are for sites seeking this special route to green design. As a badge of sustainability, we collaborate with sustainability practitioners in achieving the best scores possible.
Engaging , animated spaces that have the power to pull in crowds that are touched by the experience are the same spaces retail investors are drawn to. The quest for foot traffic hinges on the amenities and quality of the built environment we deliver on the ground. Making spaces as profit centers is key.
Beyond the tangible monetary benefits good placemaking has, our understanding of how to kickstart or reinforce natural systems and processes, working in tandem with engineered systems, remains one of our primary approaches in our design toolkit.
Transforming places to destinations that engage, entertain and inspire builds up social, cultural and economic value. This translates ultimately to an appreciation in real estate values. This earned sense of pride-of-place reaps financial rewards, allowing projects to continue sustainably into the future.
Seeing beyond, we identify the potential risks proposed landscape items, assemblies, systems and technologies may exert on operations and maintenance [O+M] regimes, and make early course corrections towards suitable adapted applications. Among the more common risks we scope relate to public safety and vandalism, natural hazards [eg. flooding and erosion, pest infestations] and tolerances to environmental stresses [eg. pollution, resource demands]
Because space can take on at least more than one complementary functions, co-locating these related activities imbues the outdoors with a certain depth beyond just single-purpose solutions. Fuller potentials become more engaging to a wider set of demographics, responding to the rhythms of day and night-time use and in tune with the changing seasons. This unlocks space to their highest and best uses, achieving cost-effectiveness in delivering amenities and services.
Below is a Select Summary of projects which our Principals had been engaged in that have formally passed LEED Certification. Most of these projects had already been built and are operating facilities. While most are overseas, a number are mixed-use projects in the country for which certification is still in progress.
